THOUSANDS of people hit the streets of Burnham-on-Sea this weekend for the Burnham Food and Drink festival.

The event, on October 22, was a huge success with over 120 stall exhibitiors coming out to  showcase local produce and cook up a storm for visitors.  There was live cooking demonstrations from local chefs as well as Apprentice star, Alana Spencer and an outdoor market for visitors to buy a range of tasty food.

Festival co-organsier Sarah Milner Simonds said:"We think this was our best festival to date.

"It was great to see the streets full of happy people, enjoying the range of producers we had brought together and heading off to explore the town.

"Big thank you to our demo chefs who all reported that the audiences were tougher than a team of restaurant critics in their questioning and judges who worked their way through an impressive range of pies, brews and bakes."

Beverley Milner Simonds, co-organsier, said: "We were really pleased to see so many people having a free, family day out.

"We try to bring a bit of the countryside into town and the tractors, farm animals and talks were all popular.

"A special thank you to our awesome team of volunteers who come together to create the great buzz and keep everyone safe."

The date for next year's festival are May 27 and October 21.
