IF YOU can't live without your morning coffee fix Burnham-on-Sea is the place to go.

The town's Calm Coffee Bar has been officially named as one of the coolest places to get speciality coffee.

The shop is one of 150 coffee shops, cafes and roasters hand-picked for the latest edition of the South West and South Wales Independent Coffee Guide.

The criteria for entry was quite strict with coffee expertise and the use of the highest quality UK roasted beans meaning that only establishments selling top-notch coffee in the South West and South Wales have made it into the guide.

The bar was noted for its freshly baked gluten free cakes by Auntie, dedication in running thought provoking campaigns, and housing a well-being studio just up their spiral staircase.

Editor Jo Rees said “We’ve seen lots of developments over the last year as bean seasonality has become more widely recognised, and new and exciting harvests from micro-lots have been sourced and roasted,” .

“So it’s a great moment to be a coffee fan.

"We’ve had fun travelling around, checking out what’s going on and meeting lovely people like Tiffany and the team who are passionate about the bean.”

The first South West guide was launched two years ago and this bigger third edition, which now includes great coffee shops and roasteries in South Wales, was unveiled at a get-together of movers and shakers in Bristol on Friday October 14.

Hosts Extract Coffee, with a little help from friends Beyond the Bean, created a carnival of coffee to launch the third guide in the series, where Bristol’s Mokoko scooped the milky honours – and £250 cash prize – in the latte art throwdown.

The guide is available from Calm Coffee Bar and other coffee shops and roasteries featured in the guide.

The books are available on Amazon, at good bookshops such as Waterstones and from the Food Insider’s Guide for £7.99.
