THE Governor of Burnham-on-Sea Moose International Lodge has been thanked by the RNLI for his contributions to the lifeboat station after he raised over £5,000 .

Ron Fisher is in his second year as governor and decided to support the station's new D class lifeboat appeal as his Govenor's charity of the year. It so happens that one of Ron’s voluntary responsibilities is ensuring the fuel supplies of Burnham-on-Sea RNLI lifeboat Station are kept well topped up

During the 12 month appeal Ron, with assistance from Burnham’s lifeboat crew, collected regularly at the local motorway services, managing to collect a total of £5,500.  A cheque for this amount had been handed over to RNLI fundraisers earlier in the year.

The appeal raised over £48,000 in total.

The new lifeboat, named by volunteers at the lifeboat station as Burnham Reach, was recently delivered and attracted a lot of media attention.

Ron was presented with a framed photograph of Burnham Reach to officially mark the occasion and to recognise his efforts.
