THE race was on as hundreds of people turned out to take part in the Brent Knoll Race .

The event on November 27 started at 11.30am at Burnham-on-Sea sports ground and was the final race in the Somerset Series 2016.

The course was a real challenge for the runners as they tackled muddy footpaths, bridleways and country roads all the way to the summit of Brent Knoll where they did half a circuit of the summit and returned to the sports ground to finish. 

There were awards trophies presented for the leading male, female, veteran and local runners as well as Somerset Series Race prizes being presented. 

The event was a huge success with hundreds of runners donning their numbers in a bid to win a trophy.

The race was a fitting end to the Somerset Series 2016 which saw races take place all over Somerset including Chard, Crewkerne and Burnham-on-Sea.

The Brent Knoll event was sponsored by BASC and Burnham Lions Club.
