CHILDREN from a Burnham-on-Sea school presented a cheque to a mental health charity after making a huge fundraising effort over the Christmas period.

Rhonda Williams, Head of St Joseph's RC Primary and Nursery School along with the youngest and oldest pupils in the school presented a cheque to Dawn, a representative from mental health charity 'In Charley's memory'.

The children raised £350 for the charity through generous contributions from parents following two Key Stage One Christmas nativities and a carol concert in the church by Key Stage Two.

In Charley's Memory is the third charity the school has raised money for since September and was created last year by Jo Clements after her son, Charley Marks took his own life.

The school has already raised £200.00 for Cafod and over £2,000.00 for the NSPCC since the new term started in September.

Rhonda Williams felt it was also important to support local charities and chose 'In Charlie's Memory' as they support so many young people.
