AS the recipes are finalised and food lovers begin preparing delicious meals, a new sponsorship agreement for Burnham-on-Sea’s popular food festival has been agreed.

Organisers of Burnham-on-Sea Food and Drink Festival have announced a new partnership with property consultants Westcoast Properties.

As part of the deal, Westcoast will display the festival’s logo on 60 estate agent boards around Burnham and Highbridge to help promote the event.

Thousands of people flocked to the festival in October and May last year, and the festival is one of the most popular on Burnham’s social calendar.

Sarah Milner Simonds, festival director, said: “We were looking for a new creative partner for the festival, who would help us spread the word about it.

“Westcoast Properties have come up with an eye-catching board design that really gets the message over.

“We also wanted to thank the many festival supporters who have signed up to displaying a board during May so thank you.”

The new signs are due to go up four weeks before the festival starts, on May 27, and organisers hope they will bring more people than ever to the event. Westcoast Properties say it will put each of the 60 signs in public hotspots in Burnham and Highbridge.

The bespoke signs will give the public more information about the festival including the date and start time of the event.

Organisers of the food festival have been busy in recent weeks and have recently launched a festival bursary to help new businesses make their steps into trading.

Olivia Ward, property consultant, from Westcoast Properties, said: “We are delighted to support this award-winning festival that not only showcases the best of Somerset food and drink, but also the heart and community spirit of Burnham-on-Sea.

“As a local business, we are always keen to show people what the town has to offer and we are really looking forward to being involved in 2017.”

Co-organisers Beverly and Sarah Milner Simonds have got a busy year ahead as they are helping to organise Wellington Food Town which will take place in September and are currently taking bookings for producers to have a stall at Burnham Food and Drink festival.
