YMCA Somerset Coast is urging residents across Somerset to take part in its annual ‘Sleep Easy’ fundraising event.

The event, which will take place on March 3, is designed to raise awareness of youth homelessness.

Martin Hodgson, chief executive of YMCA Somerset Coast, said: “We only have a few places left for our ‘Sleep Easy’ event and we urge everyone reading this to sign up and get involved.

“It’s a great opportunity to learn and experience more about what it is like to be young and homeless.

“The more people who get involved in the sleep out, the more young people we will be able to help.”

Participants will have to brave the cold and sleep in a makeshift cardboard box from 7pm in the skate park at Bridgwater YMCA.

YMCA says it hopes to get 75 people involved and raise more than £10,000 for young homeless people.

Entry costs £10 per person and the fundraiser starts at 7pm.
