TWO Ringstone residents returned to the site of their old bungalow to attend the opening of 11 new homes built on the site.

Mr and Mrs Cannon left their bungalow on the West Huntspill site 13 months ago after living there for eight years so it could be demolished to make way for a new housing development.

Mr & Mrs Cannon said:“ We were very stressed having to leave our home, but it has been worth it and we are happy to come back.

"We are delighted with our new house."

The new homes were built by Sedgemoor District Council and Biggs Contractors at Ringstone Court in West Huntspill and are set to be managed by Homes in Sedgemoor.

The couple's new home has been specially adapted with a stairlift, grab rails and a wetroom.

A spokesman for Homes in Sedgemoor said: "They are pleased to be returning to a familiar area with their friends and neighbours.

"They can’t thank Homes in Sedgemoor enough for their support over the last year.

"The couple were able to choose their kitchen tiles, flooring, cabinet doors and handles, making it more personal to them.

"They are looking forward to officially getting their keys on Monday."
