THE DRAFT of the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Neighbourhood Plan is now available online for residents to give their feedback.

The plan, which has been in preparation for almost three years sets out plans for Burnham town centre and esplanade, the redevelopment of Highbridge town centre and housing in the area.

Cllr Phil Harvey, plan coordinator, said: "During this time we really want people to give us their feedback on plan.

"Once we have gathered this we will review it and redraft before submitting it to the next stage.

"It has been a long journey to here, but hearing people’s views, ideas and practical steps that can be taken to make the area a better place to live, work and visit has been so rewarding.”

The six week consultation period on the plan has now started and residents will have until May 15 at 5pm to submit their feedback.

Cllr Harvey added: “All the way through the process residents views have shaped the draft and are incorporated into it.

"The team have run consultations on all the main ideas and issues and the plan has been based on the responses.

"Of course not everything has been able to be included and the plan has had to conform to national and local policies so some things that have been suggested have not been possible or have had to be modified.

"Nevertheless the planning group believes that what has been produced will give local people a stronger say in development for the next 15 years.

"It is vitally important for people to give their views on the draft plan during the six-week consultation period."
