Bridgwater-based Chameleon Batonettes were presented with a cheque for £1,766.22 after successfully applying for a grant from the Homes in Sedgemoor 'Making a Difference Fund'.

The Chameleon Batonettes troupe consists of girls from age three to 20, with 30 members at present.

The troupe are given the opportunity to take part in competitions and represent their country and the grant will be used to purchase much needed equipment.

Kim Lovering, fundraiser for the Batonettes said: “The girls have worked exceptionally hard in the hope they will be selected to represent their country in the European championship in October.

"The equipment we purchase will benefit the current members and many more for years to come, allowing them to continue doing what they’re passionate about, whilst learning life skills for the future.”

Lucy Chappell, community engagement & development manager from Homes in Sedgemoor said: “It is a privilege to support a group with such a clear community spirit, inspiring young people to achieve their goals and aspirations. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and we look forward to seeing what they achieve.”

The Chameleon Batonettes welcome new members. The troupe meets on a Wednesday evenings, 6pm-9pm at Eastover Youth Centre, Westonzoyland Road.
