BURNHAM-on-Sea's seasonal dog ban is back in full force. 

Sedgemoor District Council is reminding visitors and residents that dogs are banned from the towns three main beaches from May 1 to September 30. 

A spokesman for Sedgemoor District Council, said: "During the dog ban period, it is an offence to take you dog onto the beach and dog walkers can be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £75 or face prosecution for doing so.

"Sedgemoor’s dog wardens undertake patrols at the beaches and will issue fixed penalty notices to those caught with dogs on the banned beaches.

"In the last few months, the Dog wardens have issued 15 fixed penalty noticess for dogs on the beach (Beach 1) between the jetty and the Pavilion, where dogs are banned all year round.

"To remind people of the dog bans, the dog wardens have sprayed chalk stencils at locations along the esplanade in additional to the normal signage."
