This week's Golden Oldies photograph features Penryn Secondary Modern School, who won the West Cornwall under-14s Cup in 1957/58. It was a remarkable achievement given that the school had only come into existence in that year.

They played their home matches at Falmouth Rugby Club, although they were drawn away from home throughout the cup run. They beat Cape Cornwall School in the final at Penzance.

The team featured three youngsters who went on to play South-Western League football as teenagers. Andy Hughes used to catch a train to play for St Austell at the age of 16, David Burley played for Falmouth Town and David Jenkin made his debut for Helston at the age of 16.

Thank you to David Jenkin, one of Penryn Athletic's most successful ever managers, for providing the photograph and information.

The picture will be featured in Wednesday's edition of the Falmouth Packet.
