SCORES of firefighters are battling a fire at a workshop in Somerton.
A number of 999 calls were made concerning the incident in Whiscombe Lane shortly before 4pm today (Tuesday).
Initially three fire engines were moblisied from Martock, Somerton and Street.
On arrival, crews called for another three fire appliances due to the extent of the fire.
They were sent from Yeovil and Glastonbury, along with a water carrier from Yeovil and command support unit from Wiveliscombe.
Crews later requested another two fire appliances, which were mobilised from Castle Cary and Bridgwater.
The fire is in a single storey building about 40 metres by 20 metres.
Crews are using two breathing apparatus, four attack jets and four safety jets.
