A FORMER Highbridge resident said she is ‘still in shock’ after a tribunal judge dismissed a case calling for her husband’s deportation in just 20 minutes.

As reported in the Weekly News, Caroline Coombs, who now lives in Bristol, has been fighting for the last 16 months for her husband, Ecuadorian-born Carlos Alarcon Real, 49, to be given the right to remain in the country and look after their 15-month-old son, Thomas.

The couple attended a hearing at the First Tribunal Court in London on July 14 and were thrilled when Mr Real’s case was dismissed by the judge.

Mrs Coombs said:”We are still in shock as we allow ourselves to feel like a normal family. “It has been nearly two years of this horrendous uncertainty and pressure but thankfully common sense and compassion prevailed and a baby will not lose his daddy.

“Now I continue the fight to change these abhorrent rules and have already attended and spoken at a meeting with MPs in parliament who are interested in pushing for change.”
