CRAFTING enthusiasts can now have their work sold to the public as a new craft shop has opened in Burnham-on-Sea.

Crafty Comforts opened in the town just last week but owner Francesca Urch said that there has already been a 'really positive' response from customers.

Francesca decided set up the store with her mum, Melinda after spending four years selling her crafty creations at festivals and craft sales across Somerset.

"After four years of selling at craft sales I knew that I wanted to have a more permanent base for my business and I wanted somewhere coastal so Burnham fitted perfectly" she said.

"We applied to get this premises in April and we only found out a month ago that we had got it so there has been a lot of running around to organise everything to get the store ready for opening.

"A lot of craft groups in Burnham are already contacting us and are interested in us stocking their products which is really encouraging."

The shop, on High Street, stocks a variety of colourful picture frames, cushions, jewellery, shopping bags and confectionary and has filled a vacant shop front near the Cross Street junction.

"I have always had a passion for crafting and since we opened the store last week we have had a lot of people coming into the store and enjoying looking at all of our products" Francesca added.

"We have a really good range of products and we have recently sold some Burnham-on-Sea cushions which is great.

"We feel really lucky to have got such a good location for the store, its near the seafront and Burnham is such a lovely place with a nice community feel about it.

"It feels like this has been a really long time coming but I am really glad we now have a store that people can come and enjoy.
