Last week artist after carrying out work on Somerset's iconic Willow Man, artist Serena De La Hey said he may have to be taken down unless further funding can be found.
However not everyone is such a fan, with one reader arguing the Willow Man should be allowed to disintegrate.
The Willow Man was originally installed as a temporary installation but has stood alongside the motorway for more than 17 years now.
Sue Brook got in touch in a letter to have her say:
Dear Bridgwater Mercury,
I wonder if you could conduct a poll of Bridgwater residents on the future of the Willow Man?
I, and most, if not all of the people I know, think it is hideous and would be glad to see it disintegrate.
It is not at all attractive and the proportions are wrong, I consider it to be a very bad advertisement for the town.
Regards,
Sue Brook
