VOLUNTEERS from St Peter and All Hallows Church have raised more than £2,000 to repair the church footpath.

The West Huntspill church appealed to residents to sponsor one of 34 sections of the path for a fee of £10 to allow for the walkway to be re-tarmacked.

Volunteers hosted a number of events at the church over the summer in a bid to raise the funds to repair the damaged path, which will cost in excess of £3,000.

David Lemon, church warden at St Peter and All Hallows Church, said: “After an amazing appeal where we raised over £2,000 we have decided to apply to Lottery funding for the remaining money needed to finish the path to a high standard and to improve the outside lighting around the church.

“Unfortunately this will mean a delay until the end of the year to find out if our application is successful, but I hope the wait will be worth it.”
