A MOTHER has spoken of her disgust after finding Burnham-on-Sea beach littered with dog poo while walking with her children.

Toni Saunders from Burnham-on-Sea posted a number of images on social media today (January 14) which show dog mess scattered all over the town's beach, sparking a lively debate.

The post said: "As I walk along the beach towards the 9 legged lighthouse all we see is poo, lots and lots of it.

"Why do people not pick it up?"

The mother of three was walking down the beach with her husband and children when she discovered the mess and said she saw more than 17 dog poo's in the space of a ten minute walk.

"We are very disgusted, we went to the beach a couple of months ago and there was poo and now again.

"I saw around 17 bits in ten minutes on our walk today," Tori said.

"I have three kids who love to run jump and roll on the beach and the dog mess is a danger to them."

Dozens of residents have taken to social media and spoken in anger about the mess on the beach saying it is 'digusting' and 'irresponsible'.

Some residents say irresponsible dog owners should be fined for leaving dog mess and others said dogs should be banned from beaches to keep them clean.

But Toni said dog owners need to keep a closer eye on their pets to make sure they don't make a mess.

"Keep a eye on your dog if it's off the lead don't stand around chatting or let it run too far so that you can't see whats it's doing.

"Pick up your mess or keep your dog at home," Toni said.
