AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after an elderly man was injured when a motorist failed to stop for police.
The elderly man was driving a Kia on Adam Street when he was hit by a driver who failed to stop for police at 3.30pm.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police, said: "A vehicle failed to stop for police in Burnham-on-Sea at just after 3.30pm.
“The National Police Aircraft Service was involved in the operation to locate this vehicle.
“A short time later, this vehicle was in collision with a second car, a Kia, on Adam Street.
“An elderly man driving the Kia was being treated at the scene by medics.
"His injuries are not believed to be serious.
“Efforts are continuing to trace the vehicle which failed to stop.”
Fire crews from Burnham and Bridgwater were also called to the incident at 3.57pm after reports passengers were trapped in a car.
When they arrived, crews confirmed there had been a two vehicle collision and one vehicle had failed to stop at the scene.
Crews assisted ambulance and police in stabilising the vehicle and attending to the casualty at the scene.
