STUDENTS from The King Alfred School have been inspired by academics from Cambridge University after enjoying a masterclass.
Pupils from the Highbridge secondary school's sixth form carried out independent research on a specialist subject of their choice and presented their findings to fellow students under the watchful eye of Cambridge academics.
Year 12 student, Rhiana Sinclair won first prize for best presentation and students learnt some top tips on applying to Cambridge, Oxford and other leading universities.
Jonathan Gaskell, head of sixth form, said: “This was a tremendously successful event, full of aspiration and really helpful for our students who are all aiming for the top universities.”
The pupils are set to visit the university for a two day residential trip in July.
