AFTER the success of the rainbow race last year Burnham-on-Sea RNLI is bringing it back to the town for a third year.

Registration is now open for the popular annual event which attracted nearly 300 people to the town last year.

The 3.5km run begins at the town jetty and takes participants on a colourful run to the iconic lower lighthouse and back.

During the race, runners are doused in multi-coloured powder paint at each of five paint stations along the route.

Participants will receive a medal upon completion of the run and are encouraged to seek sponsorship for the event, for which sponsorship forms can be provided.

Lesley Hart, organiser of the event, said: ‘This is a fantastic event for the local community, raising vital funds for our RNLI Lifeboat station.

"The RNLI provides a 24/7 lifesaving service, using a dedicated team of volunteers."

The race will take place on August 12 and runners can check at Burnham On Sea Lifeboat Station from 11am. The race will start at 2pm.

Tickets cost £10 for adults, £6 for children or £30 for a family of 4 and can be purchased online through eventbrite.com by searching for 'RNLI Rainbow Race 2018'.

Alternatively, entrants can contact the event organiser Lesley Hart by email at RNLI-events@outlook.com.
