THE M5 in Somerset is running more smoothly now, with traffic reports saying the long delays caused by an earlier accident have now been cleared.

DRIVERS on Somerset's main motorway have been facing long delays after a crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene on M5 at junction 24 for Bridgwater.

The incident affected traffic travelling southbound.

Ambulances were seen racing the the site of the accident.

One lane was closed, but has since been reopened and traffic is now moving freely M5 Southbound.

However there has also been a crash on the M5 northbound, between Weston-Super-Mare and Clevedon, which is causing delays of up to 40 minutes for drivers heading towards Bristol.

Two lanes are closed after two vehicles were involved in the crash.
