BURNHAM-on-Sea beach was a sea of colour as more than 200 runners laced up their running shoes for a charity event.

The event on Sunday (August 12) saw enthusiastic runners jog along the beach while being covered in colourful powder paint for the RNLI's Rainbow Race.

Runners enjoyed a warm-up session hosted by Victoria Taylor from Burnham Bootcamp before the race started at 2pm.

The 3.5km run began at the town jetty, taking participants on a colourful run to the iconic lower lighthouse and back.

Despite concerns about the weather runners finished the race and took home a medal.

Organiser Lesley Hart said the event was a big success.

"Massive thanks from all of us here at Burnham RNLI, and thank you to Victoria Taylor for the brilliant warm-up session," Lesley said.

"We were a bit worried about the weather but you all dealt with it and the event was brilliant.

"If you got sponsored for the event and would like to donate anything to the RNLI, please notify us and we can let you know where to take it.

"If you got sponsored through the just giving website, please also let us know so that the funds can be allocated locally."
