A POPULAR play area in Burnham-on-Sea is set to be given a £8,080 upgrade next month.
A swing frame at Crosses Pen on Westfield Road which dates back to the 1990’s has reached the end of its life and will be removed and replaced with a new modern set consisting of two flat seats, one toddler seat and one parent and child seat.
New safety surfacing will also be installed under the new equipment and the works. which will last for two weeks, are expected to start on September 3.
Scott Mason, parks development team leader at Sedgemoor District Council, said: “The new parent and child seat will be the second of this type installed within Burnham and Highbridge following a successful trial at Apex Park which began in November 2017.
“The swing seat promotes interaction and communication between generations whilst having fun.”
Sedgemoor District Council’s Clean Surroundings Service will be carrying out the removal works and the equipment is being funded from RLT2 developer contributions.
