IN just a few weeks Burnham-on-Sea will be transformed into a musical haven as local bands fill the streets for BOSfest.

On September 1 and 2 musicians and artists from across Somerset will show off their talents to visitors at the free event which will be hosted at venues across the town.

The Princess Theatre in Burnham will be a hive of activity on September 1 as artists including Jacob Dear and local bands including Vermin, Funke, Two Tone Baby, Nick Parker and Some Villains will be performing for crowds.

The Victoria Hotel will also be busy throughout the day as bands including Little Secrets, Recovering Satellites and Irie Fire will be performing,

Burnham Library will be keeping visitors entertained as children's entertainer Nutty Noah and local authors including Francis Evesham and Sonny Topham will be reciting their works.

Comedians including Charlie Baker and Noel James will be making crowds laugh with their stand-up acts at The Ritz while street artists including Damien Nicholson, Andrew Burns Colwill, S P Zero and John D'oh will be showing off their work on the community stage.

Jacob Dear, an artist from Berrow who is showing work at the festival, said he is excited for the event and hopes it will help boost the local art scene.

"I am really looking forward to the festival, it will be great to see so many artists showing their work," Jacob said.

"There are a lot of fantastic artists in Burnham-on-Sea and I think this festival will be a great opportunity for artists in the area to have their work seen.

"I think it is great that artists now have a platform to show their work on so they will be more recognised in the community."

On September 2 musicians including Lauren Jaye, Joe and Nathaniel Topping, Eastertown and NUMB will be performing in Manor Gardens and there will be stalls, circus skills, and a bouncy castle to keep visitors entertained throughout the day.

Tanya Dyer, chairman of BOSfest, said: "We are really excited to be welcoming this myriad of amazing musical, artistic and performing talent to Burnham and also having the opportunity to showcase what is just a fraction of our own homegrown talent here in Burnham,Highbridge and the surrounding area.

"We are hoping to attract people from further afield so they can see just how much we have to offer here.

"We can't wait, it's going to be a wonderful weekend with something for everyone, this event can only take place with your support which you have given us throughout the year for which we are truly grateful, thank you for helping us to make it happen."
