FOUR baby leverets found alone next to their dead mother have been saved by Secret World Wildlife Rescue.

Animal carers at wildlife centre in East Huntspill are nursing the babies back to health after they were found by a dog walker in Gloucester.

The owner’s dog picked up one of the leverets but thankfully he managed to free it successfully.

After having a look around, the dog walker found the body of a hare in a hedge and four uninjured but weak leverets by the side of it.

Concerned for their wellbeing, he brought them in to Secret World Wildlife Rescue.

The four babies will be under the supervision of Secret World animal carer Marie Denson until they are strong and old enough to be released back into the wild.

In 2017, Secret World Wildlife Rescue looked after 174 hares and rabbits, including a number of leverets.
