A WOMAN was freed from a car by firefighters after a crash in Lympsham.

Two fire engines from Burnham-on-Sea rushed to the incident on Wick Road at 11.45pm on Monday (September 3) following a call from South Western Ambulance Service.

A car had left the carriageway and crashed into a ditch leaving a woman trapped in the car.

After arriving and assessing the scene crews got to work, alongside paramedics to stabilise the car and make the scene safe before removing the woman from the car.

Duty of care was left with the police and ambulance service.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 11.32pm on September 3 to reports of a road traffic collision.

"We attended with an ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an operations officer.

"One patient was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital with reports of a head injury."
