FOUR students at The King Alfred School celebrated after they were presented with 'Be Proud' badges as part of a new scheme.

The students were given the new badges to congratulate them on their excellent work in their first week at the Highbridge school and enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies with the school's new headteacher Nathan Jenkins.

The 'Be Proud' badge scheme will now become a weekly event at the school as it looks to reward and celebrate the successes of every student.

Mr Jenkins said: “It has been a fantastic first week and it was capped off by being able to award the first students with a ‘Be Proud’ badge.

“The students might have worked really hard, showed determination or excellent classroom study or attitude.

"There is something brilliant in every single child and we are eager to celebrate it. We are proud of them all.”

The school formally becomes part of The Priory Learning Trust (TPLT) on October 1 after a year of being supported by the multi academy trust.

In recent months the school has has an encouraging Ofsted visit, excellent site improvements with £1.2 million given from the Government and much improved GCSE results.
