A WEATHER warning remains in place for Somerset as blustery showers are set to hit the county. 

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for wind which is in place until 9am on Friday (September 21). 

Forecasters have warned residents in the South West to expect very strong winds, power cuts, longer journey times and the potential for damage to buildings as winds reaching speeds of up to 65mph are set to hit the county.

The Met Office forecast for today added: "A blustery, cool day with scattered showers which will be heavy at times with a risk of hail and thunder.

"However, inbetween showers there will besome decent sunny spells and it will become drier towards the evening with lighter winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C."
