RICHARD Brice and Joe Mason who are well known on the local sporting scene are undertaking sponsored challenges during the month of February to raise funds for the Alzheimers Society

Former England and Somerset cricketer Marcus Trescothick OBE is offering his wholehearted backing to the fund-raising duo.

He said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to support Richard and Joe in their fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society. The three of us know the sadness and devastation that dementia can cause both to the individual who is suffering, and also the wider family.”

So, what are the duo doing to raise funds for this vital research?

During the month of February, Richard will be sitting on his exercise bike and will be cycling the distance from his shop in Paignton to the home of Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton, via the Mountbatten Nursing Home in Taunton (over 50 miles).

Meanwhile in Burnham on Sea, Joe will be in a 25m pool, swimming the equivalent of the English Channel (1400 lengths).

Marcus went on: “Please can I ask you to support them, in the best way possible, by going to their JustGiving Page and doing your bit to help the Alzheimer’s Society find a cure.”

The local hero added: “Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for supporting my friends in their challenges.”
