THE Bishop of Bath and Wells, the Rt Rev Peter Price, wants Christians to go on a internet pilgrimage to help bring reconciliation and peace to the Holy Land.

He was among Church leaders launching Journey to Jerusalem outside Westminster Abbey.

The site is a virtual pilgrimage produced by Christian Aid to challenge people to think and pray about the situation in Israel and the occupied Palestine territories.

He said: “A pilgrimage such as this will increase understanding and will help the work of reconciliation.”

The site will transport travellers using videos, photos, stories and prayer, to places where Jesus preached, introducing them to today’s Christians, Jews and Muslims.

They will tell how the conflict touches the lives of both Israelis and Palestinians and how hard many people are working for peace.

“It is important for us to have a picture of the Holy Land to understand better what Jesus was saying to us,” said Bishop Peter.

“His challenge is to create a world of compassion, justice and truth remains a responsibility for all Christian people, and all people of goodwill.”
