SOMERSET bowling legend Joel Garner was back at Taunton's County Ground this morning for the official opening of the new gates dedicated in his honour.
‘Big Bird’, as he was affectionately known, played alongside Sir Ian Botham and Sir Vivian Richards, in Somerset’s most successful side in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The opening took place at 10.30am before the start of the match between Somerset Sabres and the Warwickshire Bears in the Friends Provident Trophy.
The Sabres are today hoping to make it five wins out of five and push for a quarter final place over the weekend - although play was halted earlier by rain.
