BRENT Knoll Primary School's pupils are celebrating the opening of a new outdoor learning space to be proud of.
The new play area has finally been completed and now the youngsters are making the most of their special space.
It includes a large sandpit, a water tray, a log cabin, a roofed table, planters for the gardening club, a stage for role-play and drama, bench seating, chalkboards, outdoor instruments, including drums and a xylophone, a track for ride-on toys with road markings and signs, and log trees and a large shelter.
A competition was held for pupils to design a wall mural for the area with an underwater design coming out on top.
Head teacher Karen Davidson said: “This project has taken over three years to come to fruition and we are delighted with the final result.
“A great deal of thought went into planning this area and we have made sure that it meets the requirements of the early years foundation stage curriculum so that our pupils can have an even better start to their education.”
An opening ceremony was held giving parents and prospective pupils the chance to find out what the school has to offer.
Class teacher Ruth Sheridan added: “The feedback from parents was fantastic. They all recognise how much their child will benefit from this learning environment.”
