A STUDENT at King Alfred School in Highbridge has been confirmed as suffering from suspected swine flu.
The female pupil has had the diagnosis confirmed by her GP, but the school will be remaining open.
Head teacher Keith Diffey told the Weekly News: “We are not really surprised by this.
“We will be sending a letter home with children tomorrow, which will give advice from the Health Protection Agency.
“As government advice has now changed the school will not be closing.”
Earlier, the Weekly News confirmed that a teacher at St Johns School, also in Highbridge had come down with a suspected case.
