PARLIAMENTARY hopeful Cllr Kathy Pearce paid a fact-finding visit to discuss plans for a new nuclear reactor at Hinkley Point near Burnham.
Labour candidate Cllr Pearce met with EDF bosses and was given a tour outlining the proposed development for 2017.
She discussed safety issues around nuclear waste and the processing the waste undergoes once its energy life has finished.
There were also talks on the impact on local towns and villages, and the current planning and consultation processes.
Cllr Pearce told management she acknowledged the need for a new generation of nuclear reactors in order tot meet electricity demand, and welcomed the new jobs and economic boost EDF say the proposed Hinkley C would bring.
