A POPULAR Burnham hairdresser has thanked the hundreds of well-wishers who have helped him recover from life-threatening injuries.

Peter Noad, 60, owner of Peter's Hair Stylists in Cross Street, spent weeks in hospital after an alleged assault by his son Lee Noad in January.

He underwent a major operation after suffering severe head injuries during an incident in January.

Three months on Peter is now back at home with his family, and back at work, but insists he may not have been able to pull through without the support of the community.

He told the Weekly News: “I'm on the mend but I'm still not right - I have problems with my memory and stinging in my head, and I get tired a lot.

“So many people have sent hundreds of cards or have popped into the shop to see how I am, and a lot of customers don't realise I'm back yet and have been going elsewhere.

“I'm lucky to be where I am really, I had to have a five-hour operation at Frenchay and my family were told I was 50/50 at one stage.

“I am really surprised at how many cards I have been sent and how many people have got in touch - I didn't realise how popular I was!

“It has brought tears to my eyes and has really helped me get through it. I just want to say thank you to everyone for their cards and help and let people know it is business as usual at the shop.”

* LEE Noad, 38, appeared at Taunton Crown Court on Friday where he pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Mr Noad has moved from Burnham to London as part of his bail conditions and will now face trial. A date has yet to be fixed.
