HOVERCRAFT rescue volunteers saved a four-wheel drive which was stuck in the soft sand on Burnham beach.
The vehicle had sunk in the sand near the town’s jetty when the owner, who was visiting from Gloucestershire, attempted to retrieve a jet ski on Tuesday.
A team of volunteers from Burnham rescue charity BARB was scrambled and they used a tractor to tow the stranded 4x4 back up the beach before the tide could swallow it up.
Steve Perks, BARB operations manager, said: “Fortunately for the owner, the vehicle was quickly pulled to safety.
“He was very grateful for BARB’s assistance and gave a donation to the charity to cover its costs.”
