WHILE most of us were nursing our sore heads, a group of six hardy souls began 2011 with a bracing dip in the sea off Burnham beach.
However, the brave swimmers did not just hit the water to brush off the New Year's Eve cobwebs; the event was sponsored, with donations going to Burnham hovercraft rescue charity BARB, and the Coastguard Association.
A BARB spokesman said: “This was a great opportunity to work off the excesses of Christmas while raising money for a good cause. Many thanks go to all those brave people who took part.”
The dip was watched by a crowd of around 100.
