BURNHAM played the first half up the slope against the driving wind and rain.

Nailsea piled on the pressure early on and soon scored a converted try. Burnham responded with a score from Dan Shuff, after good handling from centres Mason Shaw and Russ Edwards, but the hosts used the conditions to their advantage to score two more tries to lead 17-7 at half-time.

In the second half, loose-head Tom Jeffrey fought off tackles to score, and Alex Watkins converted.

Watkins then scored in the corner to give Burnham the lead for the first time. With five minutes remaining, a powerful driving maul allowed Jeffrey to break away and score his second try, with Watkins adding the extras to round off a well-deserved win, which featured outstanding performances from Dave Luffman, John Edwards and Harry Gough.
