BURNHAM sea rescuers helped salvage the same speedboat after it got into trouble twice in four days.
This website reported on Thursday how a lifeguard spotted the brand new 18ft speedboat in difficulty off Burnham beach after it ran out of fuel.
Fortunately, nearby jet-skier John Murphy pulled the stricken sailors on board at risk of being swept out to sea back to safety.
Then yesterday evening, Burnham's RNLI lifeboat Staines Whitfield was launched at the River Parrett after the same speedboat had broken down again.
Lifeboat spokesman Mike Lang said: “This re-enforces the fact that mechanical failure can happen at any time, as the same speed boat had apparently been assisted by a jet-ski on Thursday.”
He warned: “This might be a good time to remind boat owners about the RNLI’s free sea safety check service, which is carried out confidentially, on a one-to-one basis by specially trained lifeboat sea safety advisers.”
