BERROW'S new £2.5million health campus was unveiled to the public this afternoon.
Jane Barrie, chairman of NHS Somerset, joined practice staff, doctors and project architects GVA, to unveil a commemorative stone at the health campus in Brent Road.
The ceremony included a tour of the recently-completed premises and a series of speeches before the stone was presented to staff.
Investment in the new centre, which welcomed its first patients on May 9, has brought significantly improved health facilities to the local community in Berrow.
As well as a new GP branch surgery providing larger consulting and patient treatment rooms for the practice's 12 GPs and 12-strong nursing and health care assistant team, the site also has a pharmacy, NHS dental services and day services supporting elderly people with dementia.
Dr Harvey Sampson, practice chairman at Burnham Medical Centre, said: “This opening brings our dream of the most modern healthcare facilities for Berrow to fruition.
“We are all delighted with the new health campus, which will operate alongside our existing facilities at Love Lane (in Burnham).”
