A BURNHAM woman was inspired by her mother's battle with breast cancer to run a 10k race in aid of charity.
Nicole Antonio, aged 23, of Berrow Road, took part in the Bristol 10k and raised £850 for Weston Hospicecare.
She explained: “I ran the race for Weston Hospicecare because of my mum.
“She was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer three years ago now and I wanted to do something that would help local people who are also living with life-limiting illnesses, needing extra support and care in Burnham and the surrounding areas.
“The run went quite well, although the last couple of kilometres were a struggle as I got really bad blisters”
Nicole completed the run in a time of 55minutes, 54 seconds, and is now thinking of entering a half marathon.
“I must be mad!”
Weston Hospicecare relies on the community to help raise £3million a year to keep running and last year supported nearly 100 people from the Burnham area.
