RAINBOWS, Brownies and Guides from across the Burnham and Highbridge area had an incredible day out to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Girlguiding South-West.
In total, more than 5,000 girls from across the region headed to Exeter’s Westpoint Arena for a spectacular birthday party.
The girls had the opportunity to learn lots of new skills such as wood carving, juggling and sausage making. They also tested their skill and nerve with a variety of challenging activities including climbing, ice skating, quad biking and dry slope skiing.
All those attending were also able to enjoy a full scale fun fair. More than 500 girls in Somerset are waiting to join a guiding group. Girlguiding Somerset is always looking for new volunteers and offers a range of flexible opportunities, from helping at Brownie camp to teaching a new skill to Guides.
This enables those with busy lives to enjoy the benefits of volunteering, without the pressure of having to commit time every week. For more information on volunteering in this area, phone Teresa Brown on 01278-433052.
