Military historian appealing for information about Sedgemoor airman
A MILITARY historian is appealing for information about a Second World War airman from Sedgemoor.
Chris Stanfield is trying to trace information about John Lander Shell, who was the son of Owen and Inez Shell, of Stogursey.
John Shell was the air bomber on a Lancaster aircraft which left RAF Wickenby on April 24, 1944 and crashed into fields the following day at 4.10am.
All seven men on board were killed, including John, whose service number was 1317832 and was aged 23.
Mr Stanfield, of Essex, is hoping to build a memorial to the men. Anyone with information can email him on chrisstanfield@ntlworld.com.
