TOURISM bosses are working together to ‘help Burnham help itself’ in preparations for a new entertainment plan.
Ian Jefferies, Burnham’s Information Centre’s tourism manager, told the Weekly News he will be working with the Town Team to create an events list for Burnham next summer – but he’d like help from the public.
He said: “We’re hoping to use the sea front and parts of the town and it would be ideal to have something going on every weekend during the summer. I’d like anyone who has entertainment ideas to
get in touch.”
Ian said the poor weather didn’t help this year’s trade but there are still a lot of people coming into the
town. He added: “Our aim is to keep them there by offering high quality entertainment, rather than them seeking it further afield.
“We’re also hoping to provide residents with things to do, as well as tourists, and hopefully we can have things on the calendar throughout the year.”
BIARS will be working with the Town Team to put together some ideas on how to make the town an entrainment hub.
Beverley Milner-Simonds, a coordinator of Burnham Town Team, said: “I’m looking forward to developing some exciting events for next year.
“One of the things we got from consultation this year was for there to be more things to do in Burnham.
“We’re hoping to use the town as a whole so if anyone wants to get involved, from performers to local businesses, then they should contact us with their ideas.
“We need to help the town help itself.”
