Coach driver charged over Midlands crash

A COACH driver has been charged with causing the death of a Sedgemoor truck driver by dangerous driving on the M5.

William Mapstone, 65, died on March 24 in hospital in Birmingham after the crash which also left bus passenger dead and another critically ill.

Mr Mapstone, of Panborough, near Wedmore, died when the lorry he was driving was in collision with a bus on the southbound carriageway of the M5 near junction three.

A 50-year-old man, from Great Barr in Birmingham, was set to appear before magistrates as the Weekly News went to press.

Mr Mapstone, pictured, was driving the Fowler Welch lorry from Manchester to Devon when the crash happened at 6.30am.
