Community pulls together in Burnham... literally!

HEAVE! These strong men and women from across Burnham and Highbridge pulled together – in more ways than one – to raise money for charity.

Dozens of people took part in a sponsored truck pull organised by John ‘Zimmo’ Thatcher, who is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, and Andy Stone.

The pull started from outside Burnham’s Lighthouse Inn and saw more than 40 people heave the eight-tonne truck across the car park.

The event, which raised money for the Movers and Shakers group which supports work to find a cure for Parkinson’s, was followed by an evening of entertainment at the Oak Tree Area in Highbridge.

John said: “I am determined to fight for a cure until I am no longer able to fight.”
