A SCHOOL in Wedmore is celebrating after it was awarded ‘outstanding’ in every one of the three categories in an inspection.

A report from a Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools found Hugh Sexey Middle School’s Christian values ‘are embedded in all aspects of the school’s life and are clearly understood by pupils, staff and parents.’ It also said ‘there is a positive family ethos, underpinned by the school’s Church status which allows all children to thrive.’ Headteacher Jenny Venning said: “The school is delighted to receive this Award which comes so quickly after our recent Outstanding OFSTED report. It is clear that children really enjoy their learning at Hugh Sexeys.”

Staff were given particular praise for their work, and inspectors found the school effectively promoted pupils academic and personal development within a caring family environment.
