CROWDS gathered, sun shone and sweat poured during Burnham's annual autumn aquathlon at the weekend.

Adults took part in a 750m swim at Burnham Swim and Sports Academy followed by a 7.5km run along the Esplanade and the banks of the River Brue to Apex Park and back.

Youngsters weren't left out though as they splashed and then dash their way along the town's beach in front of dozens of viewers yesterday (October 14).

Organiser Martin Rogers, of Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, said it was a perfect day.
He added: “It was a great day all-round. The weather made such a difference - we were very lucky with that.

“There were around 40 adults taking part and over 90 kids. We split them up into age groups for the different parts of the race. A lot of them train here with us.”
