IT’S 50 not out for this golden couple.
John and Mo Morris celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Berrow village hall.
Food was eaten, music played and beer flowed as family and friends came together to celebrate the happy couple’s milestone.
“It was great,” said John, 73. “Probably 50 or 60 people were there, including some who were at the wedding.”
The pair retired to the village 12 years ago after moving from Uxbridge, Middlesex.
Mo, 71, worked for Marks and Spencer for a lot of her working life and John spent 28 years working in the brewing department at Guinness.
He was also a builder, carpenter and spent time in the forces before meeting Mo aged 23.
John added: “My mother and her mother were friends, and my brother and I were into our wrestling.
“Mo’s mother asked mine if she could go with one of us, so we had a toss-up.”
Asked what the secret to a good marriage was, John said: “I think you just have to stick with it.
You have your ups and downs in life but you have to get on with them rather than running away.
“You make your choice, so you should stick with it, in my opinion. It seems too easy for people to get divorced these days.”
